ABOUT US

Why We Need You!
97 percent of the caregivers in long term care are female.
Women represent 87 percent of the recipients in long term care.

Focus Issues
educating the public on the value of the caregiver.
taking an active role in policy development to meet the needs of an aging
population.
taking a proactive stance in the necessity of reasonable and affordable long-term care insurance.

Our History
COWL was formed in 1994 by a group of women who recognized that long-term care is about women – we have a great stake in decisions made by Congress and state legislatures; there was a need to put a face on long-term care issues. Today membership is open to women and men with an interest
in women’s issues in long-term care.
